As part of the MDEI Capstone program requirement for the Masters of Digital Experience Innovation program at the University of Waterloo, I worked with a team in partnership with MediaSmarts, a Canadian not-for-profit media literacy company to redesign their game “Privacy Playground” for children aged 8-10. The game was designed to address certain learning outcomes and respond to the needs identified by the MediaSmarts project partners:
• Update content for target audience (8-10)
• Optimize game for mobile-first play
• Integrates learning directly into gameplay
Using the scrum methodology, our team worked with MediaSmarts to develop new mini games that would address these needs. We designed them over the course of 3 design sprints and created user profiles and user journey flows using InVision.
